Chair leg repair

Hammering nails into loose and wobbly chair leg joints is never a good idea, as this before photo clearly shows. This chair leg had several nails put into it, none of which had made the chair any more solid or safe to use and only serve to make the job of the restorer much harder. The nails in this chair mortise and tenon joint were carefully extracted and the joint re-glued and reinforced with wooden dowels. The repair would have been invisible were it not for the previous repair attempts.
